UEBERBASE
Based on the OCTAMAS Interface Plate for V-RAPTOR.
Optimised for stand-alone usage and the cPRO RF motor. The Überbase receives power from a V-mount battery or gimbal (Mōvi) and data via the 8-pin LEMO input socket from the camera. In addition to its original specifications, the Überbase can be connected to a cPRO RF motor with a single cable to provide power and camera control – no more Y-cable.Customized
I made this mockup for my personal use. At the time, there was no electronic base for the Raptor available.
I was looking for a flat baseplate that fits right under my Raptor without protruding beyond its physical dimensions.
I found the OCTAMAS plate almost perfect, as it is part of their Swiss cage system. Some details, however, were superfluous, and others were missing. The OCTAMAS base has several protruding mounting points for their cage and was designed to be connected to a power base that regulates and secures voltage to the plate.
Basically, the original base features plenty of plugs and internal wiring, but no electronics.Milled down all protruding parts
This was not easy, as OCTAMAS used every possible space for threads and holes. I had to accept some imperfections due to the complexity of the design, and I had to try twice before I was satisfied. After anodising, it somehow looks good enough for me.
7pin cam socket added
I replaced the front 3-pin Fischer connector with an ARRI 6-pin socket used on Alexa cameras. A custom cable (CAM 7-pin to ARRI 6-pin) was made by my friends at 2EYETEC. It includes a resistor to match RED specifications.
Electronic fuse added
Without a regulating power base, a fuse is needed. So I installed a WOODEN CAMERA electronic fuse from a V-mount plate. It does its voodoo while passing unregulated 14.5 V battery power to the sockets. The reset button is still accessible through a small hole in the front.
